                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending the 1996 Glennville Mite Girls All-Star Softball 
  1- 2  Team and inviting the team members and coaches to appear 
  1- 3  before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, the 1996 Glennville Mite Girls All-Star Softball 
  1- 5  Team earned the title of State Champions in Class C, the 
  1- 6  first state championship in the history of the Glennville 
  1- 7  Recreation Department; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, Glennville's Mite Girls All-Star Softball Team 
  1- 9  first became eligible to compete at district and state 
  1-10  tournaments in 1995, when the Glennville Recreation 
  1-11  Department began using a pitching machine for this age 
  1-12  category; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, 15 team members, ranging in age from eight to ten, 
  1-14  were selected in June, 1996; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, this determined team won the annual Lyons 
  1-16  Tournament in July, the first time Glennville had taken this 
  1-17  tournament; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, the team, also known as the "G Force," defeated 
  1-19  Soperton, Jefferson County, and Sylvania to win the 
  1-20  championship of the First District; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, in the State Tournament, this remarkable team 
  1-22  defeated Pooler of District 2, Trion of District 5, and 
  1-23  Madison-Morgan of District 6; and 
 
  1-24  WHEREAS, some of the team members had experience in district 
  1-25  and state tournaments from 1995; all of the team members had 
  1-26  the determination to play the best softball possible, and 
  1-27  each team member displayed outstanding cooperation and 
  1-28  competitive spirit; and 
 
  1-29  WHEREAS, this excellent team was undefeated in district and 
  1-30  state tournaments, outscoring their opponents 135 to 27. 
 
  1-31  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-32  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend and 
  1-33  congratulate the members and coaches of the 1996 Glennville 
  1-34  Mite Girls All-Star Softball Team, State Champions, and 
  1-35  invite them to appear before the House of Representatives at

  2- 1  a time to be designated by the Speaker of the House of 
  2- 2  Representatives. 
 
  2- 3  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 4  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2- 5  appropriate copy of this resolution to the Glennville
