                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Saluting Representative Fisher Barfoot; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Representative Fisher Barfoot of the 155th District 
  1- 4  has announced his intention to retire from the House of 
  1- 5  Representatives; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, his distinguished career as a dedicated public 
  1- 7  servant encompassed five terms in the House of 
  1- 8  Representatives; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, he has been an exceptional member of the Natural 
  1-10  Resources and Environment Committee, serving capably as 
  1-11  subcommittee chairperson, and he has served diligently as 
  1-12  Vice Chairperson of the State Institutions and Property 
  1-13  Committee, and as a member of the Industry Committee; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, he has focused his attention as a representative on 
  1-15  initiatives to help people; and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, a native of Laurens County, Georgia, he was an 
  1-17  outstanding employee of Piggly Wiggly Supermarkets for 
  1-18  nearly 42 years, retiring as Vice President, with 
  1-19  responsibilities for marketing, sales, and advertising; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, with his retirement from Piggly Wiggly, he 
  1-21  determined to make his family's first foray into politics, 
  1-22  and ran successfully for the Georgia House of 
  1-23  Representatives; and 
 
  1-24  WHEREAS, he is known in the House of Representatives as a 
  1-25  thoughtful person who is a good friend; and 
 
  1-26  WHEREAS, he and his wife Kate have raised a fine family, 
  1-27  sons Alan, Bruce, and Stan, and daughters Paula and Donna, 
  1-28  and they share their lives and love with 17 cherished 
  1-29  grandchildren. 
 
  1-30  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-31  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body salute the 
  1-32  Honorable Fisher Barfoot, an exemplary, dedicated, and 
  1-33  valuable member who will be sorely missed.

  2- 1  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  2- 2  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  2- 3  appropriate copy of this resolution to Representative Fisher
