                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending the Safe Schools Program sponsored by AT&T and 
  1- 2  Ericsson; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, the safety and well-being of Georgia's children are 
  1- 4  of utmost importance to parents, educators, and all other 
  1- 5  citizens; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, national studies consistently rank student safety 
  1- 7  as one of the most important factors in providing quality 
  1- 8  education; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, AT&T Wireless Services and Ericsson have initiated 
  1-10  a Safe School Program by providing two Ericsson digital 
  1-11  phones and up to 160 minutes per month of free local 
  1-12  wireless airtime from AT&T; and 
 
  1-13  WHEREAS, 1,000 schools nationwide are benefiting from this 
  1-14  progressive use of technology and this generous gift from 
  1-15  two major corporations; and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, this significant contribution has immediately had 
  1-17  an impact on the safety and well-being of students by 
  1-18  allowing teachers and administrators to call 911 when 
  1-19  students become gravely ill, alert parents of delays, and 
  1-20  enlist assistance for students, teachers, and school 
  1-21  personnel. 
 
  1-22  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 
  1-23  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend AT&T 
  1-24  and Ericsson for sponsoring the School Safety Program 
  1-25  nationwide and convey their sincere appreciation. 
 
  1-26  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-27  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
