                             A RESOLUTION 
  1- 1  Expressing sympathy at the passing of Betty Davis; and for 
  1- 2  other purposes. 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Atlanta and the State 
  1- 4  of Georgia recently lost a true friend and a loyal citizen 
  1- 5  with the untimely passing of Betty Davis; and 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, she was retired from a long and distinguished 
  1- 7  career as a special education teacher at Atlanta's Kennedy 
  1- 8  Middle School, where she was a positive influence in the 
  1- 9  lives of many young people; and 
  1-10  WHEREAS, she was a tireless volunteer who spread sunshine to 
  1-11  everyone she met; and 
  1-12  WHEREAS, she volunteered as a cook at Our Lady of Lourdes 
  1-13  Catholic Church and at the church's elementary school, was a 
  1-14  volunteer tax preparer for 15 years and assisted those who 
  1-15  could not afford to pay for assistance, and taught the 
  1-16  American Association of Retired Persons' 55 Alive Mature 
  1-17  Driving Program; and 
  1-18  WHEREAS, she was a devoted member of Providence Baptist 
  1-19  Church, where she was a member of the board of trustees, the 
  1-20  deaconess board, and a Sunday School teacher for many years; 
  1-21  and 
  1-22  WHEREAS, she was a very special person who was dedicated to 
  1-23  helping others while never asking for anything for herself. 
  1-25  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express their 
  1-26  deepest regret at the passing of Betty Davis and extend 
  1-27  their sincerest sympathy to the members of her family. 
  1-28  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-29  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-30  appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Betty 
  1-31  Davis.
