                             A RESOLUTION 
  1- 1  Recognizing and congratulating Josh Smith; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, in February, 1998, Josh Smith won his second 
  1- 4  consecutive state Class A wrestling title by pinning his 
  1- 5  first opponent in the first period, beating the second two 
  1- 6  opponents 12-1 and 21-9 respectively, and putting away the 
  1- 7  final challenger with a decisive second period pin; and 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, the senior matman from Commerce High School capped 
  1- 9  an unparalleled season with his state victory and brought 
  1-10  home the only state title among Jackson County competitors; 
  1-11  and 
  1-12  WHEREAS, Josh's record for the past year was 38-0, bringing 
  1-13  his two-year record to a stunning 70-3; and 
  1-14  WHEREAS, the only competitor who came close to Josh's 
  1-15  achievements was his brother, Wes Smith, who took second 
  1-16  place in the state championship and is also a fierce and 
  1-17  talented competitor; and 
  1-18  WHEREAS, both Smith brothers are considered the hardest 
  1-19  working members of the Commerce High wrestling team, and 
  1-20  Coach Hames simply states that Josh has the best work ethic 
  1-21  of anybody he has ever coached; and 
  1-22  WHEREAS, the dedication and commitment of Josh to his goals 
  1-23  are to be commended and encouraged in all young people, and 
  1-24  it is only fitting and proper that we join so many others in 
  1-25  voicing our admiration for Josh and the way he has achieved 
  1-26  his goals. 
  1-28  REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and 
  1-29  congratulate Josh Smith on his outstanding achievements in 
  1-30  the sport of wrestling and wish him all the success in his 
  1-31  future. 
  1-32  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 
  1-33  Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 
  1-34  appropriate copy of this resolution to Josh Smith.
