                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend an Act providing supplements to the salaries of the 
  1- 2  judges of superior court, the district attorney, and the 
  1- 3  chief assistant district attorney of the Flint Judicial 
  1- 4  Circuit, approved March 21, 1984 (Ga. L. 1984, p. 705), so 
  1- 5  as to change the amount and method of payment of such 
  1- 6  supplements; to change the proportion of such supplements 
  1- 7  which each county shall pay; to provide that such 
  1- 8  supplements shall be expenses of the superior courts; to 
  1- 9  provide an effective date; to provide for automatic repeal 
  1-10  under certain circumstances; to repeal conflicting laws; and 
  1-11  for other purposes. 
 
  1-12       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1-13                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1-14  An Act providing supplements to the salaries of the judges 
  1-15  of superior court, the district attorney, and the chief 
  1-16  assistant district attorney of the Flint Judicial Circuit, 
  1-17  approved March 21, 1984 (Ga. L. 1984, p. 705), is amended by 
  1-18  striking Sections 1 and 2 and inserting in their place new 
  1-19  Sections 1 and 2 to read as follows: 
 
 
 
  1-20    The governing authorities of the Counties of Butts, Lamar, 
  1-21    and Monroe, such counties comprising the Flint Judicial 
  1-22    Circuit, shall provide from county funds supplements to 
  1-23    the compensation received from state funds for each judge 
  1-24    of superior court, the district attorney, and the chief 
  1-25    assistant district attorney.  The annual amount of such 
  1-26    supplements shall be $12,000.00 for each judge, $12,000.00 
  1-27    for the district attorney, and $6,000.00 for the chief 
  1-28    assistant district attorney. 
 
 
 
  1-29    The counties of the Flint Judicial Circuit shall pay 
  1-30    annually the amounts of such supplements in proportions as 
  1-31    provided in this section.  The Counties of Butts, Lamar,

  2- 1    and Monroe shall each pay $4,000.00 for each judge of 
  2- 2    superior court, $4,000.00 for the district attorney, and 
  2- 3    $2,000.00 for the chief assistant district attorney." 
 
  2- 4                           SECTION 2. 
 
  2- 5  This Act shall become effective on January 1, 1999; 
  2- 6  provided, however, that unless a bill removing Henry County 
  2- 7  from the Flint Judicial Circuit and creating the Henry 
  2- 8  Judicial Circuit is passed, becomes law, and becomes 
  2- 9  effective on or before January 1, 1999, this Act shall be 
  2-10  void and shall be automatically repealed on January 1, 1999. 
 
  2-11                           SECTION 3. 
 
  2-12  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
