                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend an Act creating the State Court of Cobb County, 
  1- 2  approved March 26, 1964 (Ga. L. 1964, p. 3211), as amended, 
  1- 3  so as to change the compensation of the chief judge, judges, 
  1- 4  and associate judges of the state court; to provide an 
  1- 5  effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other 
  1- 6  purposes. 
 
  1- 7       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 8                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 9  An Act creating the State Court of Cobb County, approved 
  1-10  March 26, 1964 (Ga. L. 1964, p. 3211), as amended, is 
  1-11  amended by striking from Section 23 of Part 1 the following: 
 
  1-12    "The salary of the judges of Division I of the State Court 
  1-13    of Cobb County shall be $93,200.00 per annum.", 
 
  1-14  and inserting in its place the following: 
 
  1-15    "The salary of the judges of Division I of the State Court 
  1-16    of Cobb County shall be $96,928.00 per annum." 
 
  1-17                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-18  Said Act is further amended by striking subsection (a) of 
  1-19  Section 2-3 of Part 2 and inserting in its place the 
  1-20  following: 
 
  1-21    "(a) The salary of each associate judge shall be 
  1-22    $73,840.00 per annum to be paid in equal monthly 
  1-23    installments from the funds of Cobb County.  The associate 
  1-24    judges are designated as full-time judges and may not 
  1-25    engage in the private practice of law." 
 
  1-26                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-27  This Act shall become effective on January 1, 1999. 
 
  1-28                           SECTION 4. 
 
  1-29  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-30  repealed.
