                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend an Act creating a new charter for the City of 
  1- 2  Cohutta, approved April 10, 1969 (Ga. L. 1969, p. 2529), as 
  1- 3  amended, so as to provide for the power of the mayor to vote 
  1- 4  on matters before the city council; to provide an effective 
  1- 5  date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 6       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 7                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 8  An Act creating a new charter for the City of Cohutta, 
  1- 9  approved April 10, 1969 (Ga. L. 1969, p. 2529), as amended, 
  1-10  is amended by striking Section 2.05 and inserting in lieu 
  1-11  thereof a new Section 2.05 to read as follows: 
 
  1-12                         "SECTION 2.05. 
  1-13                  Mayor as presiding officer. 
 
  1-14  The mayor shall preside at meetings of the council, shall 
  1-15  have a vote only  where it is the third vote for or against 
  1-16  a matter, shall have no veto power, shall be the ceremonial 
  1-17  head of the city, shall sign ordinances and resolutions on 
  1-18  their final passage, shall sign deeds, bonds, and contracts 
  1-19  when authorized by the council to do so, shall be the 
  1-20  officer to accept process against the city, and shall 
  1-21  perform other duties imposed by this Act and ordinances not 
  1-22  inconsistent with this Act." 
 
  1-23                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-24  This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 
  1-25  Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. 
 
  1-26                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-27  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
