Pam Glanton of Riverdale was elected to the Senate from the 34th District in 1992 and is now in her third term.
Glanton, a Republican, is vice-chair of the Defense and Veterans Affairs Committee and secretary of the Higher Education Committee as well as secretary of the Special Judiciary Committee. She also serves on the Retirement and Interstate Cooperation Committees.
In addition to her standing committee assignments, Glanton has also chaired the Senate Study Committee on Postage Cost Reduction.
Prior to her election to the Senate, Glanton was a member of the Clayton County School Board and continues to have a strong interest in education issues.
Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, Glanton attended LaGrange College. She and her husband, Jim, are the parents of one son, Joshua.
The 34th District, which Senator Glanton represents, includes portions of: Fulton, Fayette, Clayton and Douglas Counties.
