SB 483 96 SB483/FA/4 SENATE BILL 483 By: Senators Newbill of the 56th, Perdue of the 18th, Ray of the 19th and others A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Code Section 20-2-9 of the Official Code of Georgia 1- 2 Annotated, relating to per diem allowances and expenses of 1- 3 members of the State Board of Education, so as to restrict 1- 4 members of the board to the same expense allowance as 1- 5 members of the General Assembly; to provide for 1- 6 reimbursement of actual transportation costs; to repeal 1- 7 conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 9 Code Section 20-2-9 of the Official Code of Georgia 1-10 Annotated, relating to per diem allowances and expenses of 1-11 members of the State Board of Education, is amended by 1-12 striking said Code section in its entirety and inserting in 1-13 lieu thereof of a new Code Section 20-2-9 to read as 1-14 follows: 1-15 "20-2-9. (Index) 1-16 Each member of the State Board of Education shall receive 1-17 the sum provided for by Code Section 45-7-21 for each day 1-18 of actual attendance at meetings of the state board or for 1-19 each day of travel, within or outside the state, as a 1-20 member of a committee of the state board which has been 1-21 authorized by the chairman chairperson or by action of the 1-22 state board, in addition to actual expenses incurred in 1-23 connection therewith and actual costs of transportation 1-24 plus reimbursement for actual transportation costs while 1-25 traveling by public carrier or the legal mileage rate for 1-26 the use of a personal automobile to and from the place of 1-27 meeting or place of visits or inspections. No member shall 1-28 be authorized to receive the sums, expenses, and costs 1-29 provided for by this Code section for more than 60 days 1-30 per year. Such sums, expenses, and costs shall be paid 1-31 from funds appropriated to or otherwise available to the 1-32 Department of Education." S.
