HR 474 LC 22 1652 A RESOLUTION 1- 1 Commending James G. Ledbetter; and for other purposes. 1- 2 WHEREAS, James G. Ledbetter was appointed commissioner of 1- 3 the Department of Human Resources in 1982 by Governor George 1- 4 Busbee, has served in that position under three governors, 1- 5 and has also served the state as director and deputy 1- 6 director of the Division of Rehabilitation Services; and 1- 7 WHEREAS, Commissioner Ledbetter's vision has been a unifying 1- 8 force in making government more responsive to the increasing 1- 9 number of people who turn to it for assistance in managing 1-10 their lives; and 1-11 WHEREAS, he has supported policies that encourage people 1-12 needing services to achieve a measure of control over their 1-13 lives by working towards personal independence and 1-14 participating in decisions affecting them; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Jim Ledbetter has demonstrated great respect for 1-16 the political process and has been a true friend to the 1-17 legislative body of Georgia, working with members of the 1-18 General Assembly to keep them informed of issues and to 1-19 enlist their support for programs and policies that benefit 1-20 Georgia's citizens; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Georgia will continue to benefit from his 1-22 dedication to improving health care for all citizens as he 1-23 directs the Georgia Health Policy Center. 1-24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 1-25 REPRESENTATIVES that members of this body commend James G. 1-26 Ledbetter for his extraordinary leadership of the Georgia 1-27 Department of Human Resources and his personal commitment to 1-28 the citizens of Georgia. 1-29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of 1-30 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an 1-31 appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. James G. 1-32 Ledbetter. -1- (Index)
