HB 807 HB 807/CA H. B. No. 807 (AM) By: Representatives Godbee of the 145th and Porter of the 143rd A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Article 1 of Chapter 1 of Title 20 of the Official 1- 2 Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions 1- 3 relative to education, so as to provide that the terms 1- 4 "county school system" and "county board of education" shall 1- 5 include any independent school system and the board of 1- 6 education of any independent school system; to repeal 1- 7 conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 9 Article 1 of Chapter 1 of Title 20 of the Official Code of 1-10 Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative 1-11 to education, is amended by adding at the end thereof a new 1-12 Code Section 20-1-8 to read as follows: 1-13 "20-1-8. (Index) 1-14 Except as may otherwise be specifically provided, as used 1-15 in this title, the term 'local school system' shall refer 1-16 to both any county school system and any independent 1-17 school system which may be in existence in a county. The 1-18 terms 'local boards of education' and 'county boards of 1-19 education' shall refer to both any county board of 1-20 education and the board of education of any independent 1-21 school system which may be in existence in a county." SECTION 2. 1-22 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-23 repealed. H. B. No. 807 -1- (Index)
