HB 743 LC 21 2894 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Code Section 47-10-65 of the Official Code of 1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to contributions for spouses' 1- 3 benefits under the Trial Judges and Solicitors Retirement 1- 4 Fund, so as to change the number of years a member must make 1- 5 contributions for spouses' benefits; to provide conditions 1- 6 for an effective date and automatic repeal; to repeal 1- 7 conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1- 9 Code Section 47-10-65 of the Official Code of Georgia 1-10 Annotated, relating to contributions for spouses' benefits 1-11 under the Trial Judges and Solicitors Retirement Fund, is 1-12 amended by striking in its entirety subsection (e) and 1-13 inserting in lieu thereof the following: 1-14 "(e) When a member elects to obtain spouses' benefits as 1-15 provided in this Code section and such member attains 22 1-16 16 years of creditable service for regular retirement 1-17 pursuant to subsection (b) of Code Section 47-10-100, such 1-18 member shall continue to make the employee contributions 1-19 required for spouses' benefits until such member attains 1-20 22 16 years of creditable service for the purpose of 1-21 spouses' benefits." SECTION 2. 1-22 This Act shall become effective on July 1, 1996, only if it 1-23 is determined to have been concurrently funded as provided 1-24 in Chapter 20 of Title 47 of the Official Code of Georgia 1-25 Annotated, the "Public Retirement Systems Standards Law"; 1-26 otherwise, this Act shall not become effective and shall be 1-27 automatically repealed in its entirety on July 1, 1996, as 1-28 required by subsection (a) of Code Section 47-20-50. SECTION 3. 1-29 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-30 repealed. -1- (Index)
